Legionella Risk assessment is a legal duty for Landlords for rented properties. This one day course covers the Understand the health effects of Legionnaires’ Disease, Understand how legislation and codes of practice can support the management of legionella bacteria, Understand how to control the risks of legionella bacteria, Understand the risks associated with legionella in hot and cold water systems and Know how to control the risk of legionella in hot and cold water systems. Course structure
Training and Re-assessment or Initial assessment of all five can be completed in in 5 days. *Re-assessment candidates need their current or previous certificate which is not expired more than 12 months.
Course Contents
  • The following topics will be covered during course:
  • DHWSS; Installation and safety Regulations and standards, Principles of hot water expansion, Design,Components and function of Safety controls, discharge pipework, Maintenance and servicing etc.
  • Water Regulations; Materials and substances in contact with water, Requirements for water fittings, Water System design and installation, Commissioning, Prevention of cross Connection to wholesome water, Backflow prevention, Cold and Hot water services, WCs & Flushing devices, Sanitary appliances & water for outside use.
  • Safe Isolation & Heating Controls will cover installation and fault finding on domestic heating and hot water supply system controls. S Plan - Two port valves provides independent time and temperature control of heating and hot water systems Y Plan - Three port valves provides independent time and temperature control of heating and hot water systems and heat both circuits at same time if required. C Plan - Used on pumped heating and gravity hot water systems W Plan - Mid position 3 port diverter valve provides independent time and temperature control of heating and hot water systems and priority given to hot water system.
  • Energy Efficiency Part L provide with the knowledge and understanding of heating system design and install to comply with Part L of the building regulations.

Prerequisite
  • This course is for experienced candidates in plumbing or
  • any formal craft qualification e.g NVQ/SVQ Level 3 in heating engineering or plumbing. or undertaking a course in heating engineering or plumbing which will lead to a formal craft qualification.
Achievement on completion
On Successful Completion Of Assessment, Candidate Will Be Issued A Certificate For DHWSS, Water Regulations, Energy Efficiency Part L, Adskills Safe Isolation & Heating controls and Legionella Risk Assessment.
