    Level 3 NVQ Approved Electrician Course is for those learners who wish to become a competent electrician and wish to pursue a career in the electrotechnical/building services sector and to apply for ECS GOLD CARD.

    Please note that the rules are changed from 1st September 2021, if you want to join the Part P Competent Person Scheme (such as NICEIC, NAPIT etc) as a Qualified Supervisor and persons carrying out electrical installation and testing in Dwellings you need minimum qualifications along with two years' experience. The new requirements for joining a CPS, whether NICEIC or NAPIT, are detailed in the EAS Qualification Guide December 2021, which you can read for further detail.

  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures and the Environment) (QCF) 501/1605/8 in centre theory and practical

    This qualification is a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) and is part of the apprenticeship framework developed by Summit Skills. NVQs encourage an employee to value their contribution to the workplace and develop their skills and potential. It is recognised by the Joint Industry Board (JIB) for grading to apply for an ECS Installation Electrician Gold Card. This qualification requires occupational evidence.

    The knowledge units are typically Centre delivered though workshop practical, and classroom study. The performance units require evidence from the workplace. The Diploma also requires the completion of Electrotechnical Occupational Competence Unit (AM2 end point assessment). AM2 assessment is independently assessed by NET (please note that the AM2 assessment fee is not included in your course fee.

    • Understanding health and safety legislation, practices and procedures (installing and maintaining electrotechnical systems and equipment)
    • Understanding environmental legislation, working practices and the principles of environmental technology systems
    • Understanding the practices and procedures for overseeing and organising the work environment (electrical installation)
    • Understanding the practices and procedures for the preparation and installation of wiring systems and electrotechnical equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
    • Understanding the principles of planning and selection for the installation of electrotechnical equipment and systems in buildings, structures and the environment
    • Understanding the principles, practices and legislation for the termination and connection of conductors, cables and cords in electrical systems
    • Understanding the principles, practices and legislation for the inspection, testing, commissioning and certification of electrotechnical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
    • Understanding the principles, practices and legislation for diagnosing and correcting electrical faults in electrotechnical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
    • Understanding the electrical principles associated with the design, building, installation and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems
    • Performance Units
    • Applying health and safety legislation and working practices (installing and maintaining electrotechnical systems and equipment)
    • Applying environmental legislation, working practices and the principles of environmental technology systems
    • Overseeing and organising the work environment (electrical installation)
    • Planning, preparing and installing wiring systems and associated equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
    • Terminating and connecting conductors, cables and flexible cords in electrical systems
    • Inspecting, testing, commissioning and certifying electrotechnical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
    • Diagnosing and correcting electrical faults in electrical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment

  • Prerequisite
  • Learners must be at least 16 years old. There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. However, learners must have the potential to achieve all aspects of the qualification. In particular, learners should be able to demonstrate that they have the minimum levels of literacy and numeracy required for the completion of the learning outcomes and the assessments.

     

  • Achievement Upon Completion
  • Upon successful completion, the Candidate will receive Level 3 Certificates from EAL or City & Guild.
